STAGE OPERATIONS VOLUNTEERS

Targa Newfoundland 2009 has opportunities for the following volunteer positions on our stage operations teams.  These teams run the Targa stages so the work is fun and exciting.  Volunteers for Stage Operations need to be available from the Saturday before the start of Targa (September 12) until the finish on Friday afternoon (September 18, inclusively.  They are required to travel with the event from Monday September 14 to Friday.  This is a fun expense paid week at the heart of the event.  See the cars in action and meet the crews. 

 

Each Stage Operations team consists of a Stage Operations Commander (SOC), a Deputy SOC, a Radio NET Controller, a Start Line Recorder, two Flying Finish Recorders, and a Finish Radio operator.

 

The Stage Operations Commander is TN's management representative at the Start Line.  He/she ensures information is passed to the Command Centre via the NET Controller. The SOC is responsible for the safe, orderly and expeditious running of the stage.

 

The NET Controller is responsible for setting up required communications equipment, managing the stage NET, maintaining contact with Finish Radio, CCV, and stage Check Points, announcing a vehicle's entry to the stage, acknowledging the Finish Radio's announcement of a vehicle's exit from the stage, receiving and disseminating information about events on the stage, and relaying information to/from the SOC.

 

The Start Line Recorder sets up and operates the Timing equipment at Stage Start, posts signs, and briefs and monitors the local volunteer in the manual recording of Time Control information.

 

The Deputy SOC is TN's management representative at the Finish Line.  He/she ensures information is passed to the SOC via the NET.  He sets up signs and operates the Timing Equipment at the Finish Line.

 

The Flying Finish Recorders sets up and operates the Timing Equipment at the Flying Finish, posting of signs, and briefs and monitors the local volunteer in the manual recording of Time Control information.

 

The Finish Radio announces a car's exit from a stage and for provides communication between SOC and Deputy SOC.
