Re: Master Base Factors and Assigned Targa Stage Times 2008
A detailed analysis of the 2007 Targa Results, both final and stage by stage, has indicated that the 2007 Master Base Factors and Stage Base Times were well balanced. Thus for 2008 we are making only minor adjustments in assigning the Master Base Factors and Stage Base Times. These factors represent the ratio between different Categories & Classes. In effect it is a summary of the handicapping system.
These factors will not be changed during the event this year with one possible exception – the Hybrid Class, for which we still have a very limited database.
Please note, a page will appear in the Routebooks before each stage that provides all the Base Times for that stage.
As in the past the Organizers reserve the right to change the Master Base Time for any particular stage, which would result in an equal adjustment to all Base Times, based on their ratio relative to the Master Base Time. Such changes will be posted no later than 10:00 P.M. on the night prior to the stage running.
